Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the learning outcomes of shot put using modified plastic balls for fifth-grade students at SDN Maospati. Physical education plays a crucial role in developing students' motor, intellectual, and emotional skills. However, teaching shot put to elementary students often faces challenges due to the heavy weight of standard iron balls and safety concerns. To address this issue, the service team implemented a modified learning approach utilizing plastic balls. The implementation method consisted of preparation, execution through practice and demonstration, and evaluation. The activities were conducted over four days, involving basic technique explanations followed by individual and competitive team practices. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' enthusiasm and mastery of basic shot put techniques, specifically in the grip, stance, and pushing motions. The use of plastic balls effectively reduced students' fear and increased their active participation during the physical education lessons. In conclusion, modifying equipment with plastic balls is a highly effective strategy to enhance the learning outcomes of shot put in elementary schools, providing a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate physical education experience.
